Boston Marathon bombers motivated by religion, Everyone wants to know what caused 19-year-old Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev and his 26-year-old brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev to pull off the largest terror attack on U.S. soil since September 11, 2001. The two men who are brothers allegedly set off two bombs near the finish line at the 2013 Boston Marathon. Until now no one knew why these men carried out the attacks, but according to an April 22 report from NBC News, Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev told investigators he and his brother were motivated by religion.

Officials say that Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev has been cooperative during his initial interrogations. Reports say he claims the pair were not in contact with any terrorists or groups.

Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev is said to be answering questions by nodding his head from his hospital bed where he is recovering from injuries he suffered during two separate shootouts with law enforcement officers late last week.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed during a late-night confrontation with law enforcement officers on Thursday, April 18.

Dzokhar Tsarnaev, was charged on Monday, April 22 with using a weapon of mass destruction, and with malicious destruction of property resulting in death.
