'Sextortion' prison terms: Two California men sentenced in pro poker case

'Sextortion' prison terms: Two California men sentenced in pro poker case, Pro poker player Joe Sebok had his email account hacked into by two California men, and they attempted to extort him with naked pictures found in it. According to a report from Reuters on Monday, April 22, 2013, the two men were sentenced to their "sextortion" prison terms after having pleaded guilty.

23-year-old Tyler Schrier and 39-year-old Keith Hames Hudson were sentenced to 42 months and two years respectively.

Schrier pleaded guilty to conspiracy, extortion, and unauthorized access to a protected computer. He could have gotten up to 17 years. Hudson could have gotten five years for pleading guilty to unauthorized access to a protected computer for financial gain.

Back in 2010, the two men targeted pro poker player Joe Sebok by threatening to post intimate emails and private pictures online if he and other victims didn't pay them a lot of money. Sebok said during the sentencing hearing that he and others had their lives "altered and shattered in irreparable ways.

Sebok claims it has destroyed his ability to continue earning a living as a pro poker player.

"In short, I was no longer able to maintain my then-current level of participation in the poker industry, representing the brands that I had been previously, as well as greatly destroying my ability to do so with new companies moving forward," Sebok said, according to U.S. Attorney's spokesman Thom Mrozek.

"Without belaboring the point too much, it was a nightmare, and one that I was forced to live through with millions of people watching," Sebok said, according to Mrozek.

The names of the other victims in the "Sextortion" were not revealed in court documents by anything other than their initials.

There is a third defendant in the case, 22-year-old Ryder Finney. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy in connection with the "Sextortion" plan, and his prison term will be given later this month. He could face up to five years.
