Cop milk photo: Officer who delivered milk during bombing lockdown is ID’d

Cop milk photo: Officer who delivered milk during bombing lockdown is ID’d, The heartwarming photo of a Boston-area police officer delivering milk to a family with young children during the Boston Marathon bombing lockdown has gone viral, and now his identity apparently is known, Today.com reported April 22.

The photo — sure to become one of the many iconic images to come out of the Boston Marathon bombings — shows an officer toting two gallon-jugs of milk to a family with a young child in Watertown, Mass.

While the identity of the officer delivering the milk and the person who snapped the photo had been a mystery as the image went viral, it’s now known who they apparently are.

Watertown resident Kevin Wells says that he snapped the photo of Officer John Bradley of the Brookline, Mass., police department, according to Today.com. The officer was delivering two gallons of milk on Friday to Wells’ 17-month-old son, Holden.

Kevin and McKenzie Wells said that they ran out of milk for Holden while their neighborhood was on lockdown during Friday’s bombing suspect manhunt.

Around noon on Friday, McKenzie Wells' mother, Trish Sommers, decided to take a chance and walked down the block to see if any officers might be willing to help with their predicament. Officer John Bradley answered the call of duty and delivered the milk.

The grateful couple said that Office Bradley refused their offer to pay him for the two gallons of milk. Bradley also declined to comment.

The Boston Police Department tweeted a photo of the officer delivering the milk. “BPD Officer delivers milk to a family with young children in Watertown during the lockdown,” the Boston PD tweet of April 21 said.

The city was on lockdown last Friday as police hunted bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Tsarnaev was captured that day after an intense standoff. His brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was killed after a shootout with police. It’s possible that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev actually ran over his brother with an SUV and may have killed him or contributed to the bombing suspect’s death.
