Boston weather, metro north and west: Weekend Outlook

Boston weather, metro north and west: Weekend Outlook, During yesterday afternoon clouds began to build with a few sprinkles falling during the evening hours. As the disturbance in the upper levels moved east skies cleared and we were left with another night of crystal clear skies and a brilliant full moon. Temperatures once again fell into the 30s across the interior landscape to the low 40s along the coast.

We wake to sunny skies and a chill in the air to start our Saturday. With high pressure taking control we can look forward to fine weather for this final weekend of April. The high will be the dominant weather feature into the middle of next week resulting in an extended period of fair skies and seasonable temperatures.

Light winds will promote developing sea breezes along coastal locations both weekend days and probably into early next week. The high will move offshore by early next week, setting up a more southerly flow but the flow remains weak and thus still allowing the probability of a light coastal sea breeze. So, while inland sections can look for afternoon high temperatures in the 60s to low 70s through this forecast period it will be cooler right along the coast and beach locations.

An area of weak low pressure and associated showers will be over the Ohio Valley by late in the weekend. This will push some cloudiness into the area by Tuesday and Tuesday night, with any precipitation likely staying south of us.

We have experienced a dry April and with no appreciable rainfall in the foreseeable future, probably all next week, there will be concern for the possibility of brush fire danger. The one missing ingredient will be windy conditions, however it certainly will be dry enough to raise an eyebrow or two that a fire can break out at any time. Along with the fire danger potential will be high levels of pollen as the trees continue to be the main culprits. Again, with no rainfall in sight the pollen will remain high into next week.

Five Day Outlook:

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with some afternoon clouds. After a cool start high temperatures reach the mid to upper 60s inland to only the upper 50s to 60 degrees on the coast. Light northeast to southeast winds.

Saturday night: Some evening clouds will give way to clear overnight skies and chilly temperatures. Lows in the mid to upper 30s inland to low 40s on the shoreline. Winds light from the south and southeast.

Sunday: Sunny and slightly milder. Highs into the low 70s inland, with a sea breeze keeping it cooler on the coast where highs max out in the low to mid 60s. Light winds continue.

Sunday night and Monday: Fair skies and very pleasant. Lows in the low to mid 40s. Highs on Monday in the upper 60s to mid 70s from coast to interior. A sea breeze may knock coastal temperatures back into the 50s by late afternoon.

Monday night: Increasing clouds. Lows in the mid 40s.

Tuesday and Tuesday night: Mostly cloudy. Highs in the mid 60s to 70 degrees. Lows in the 40s.

Wednesday: Partly cloudy. Highs in the mid to upper 60s, slightly cooler on the shore.
