Newborn left on beach in Hawaii: Baby girl left on beach immediately after birth

Newborn left on beach in Hawaii: Baby girl left on beach immediately after birth, In an incredibly strange story, a newborn left on a beach in Hawaii was found by a woman, according to an April 29 Boston Globe report. The newborn baby girl was immediately abandoned after she was born.

The newborn left on a beach in Hawaii was a full-term, eight pound baby. Who would leave this little girl in such an unsafe place?

The woman found the newborn on Sandy Beach in east Honolulu on Sunday night between 11 p.m. and midnight. At first, she heard people screaming, and then that stopped, and she heard a baby crying. When she investigated, she found the newborn abandoned in the sand on the Honolulu beach.

The woman bundled the baby up, and took her to the hospital. Authorities are trying to figure out who abandoned this newborn on the beach. They are investigating it as a child abandonment and endangerment case. Department of Human Services Director Patricia McManaman said,

"We're just very grateful this child is alive and doing well."

Thank goodness the woman who found this newborn left on the beach was there and picked her up. Otherwise, she could have been swept out to sea or something else could have happened to her. Unbelievably, this baby was abandoned in the sand even though Hawaii has a safe haven law. All the mother had to do was leave this newborn at a fire department, police station or hospital. Why would anybody just leave the newborn on the beach?
