Hailey Dunn’s mom not questioned since Texas cheerleader’s remains found

Hailey Dunn’s mom not questioned since Texas cheerleader’s remains found, Billie Dunn, the mother of Texas school cheerleader Hailey Dunn, whose remains were identified last week, has not been questioned by authorities since the girl’s body was found, according to an April 30, 2013 KTXS report.

Dunn’s attorney, John Young, told the local news media outlet that law enforcement has not approached her since March, when a man looking for fossils came upon Hailey’s remains near Lake J.B. Thomas in Scurry County.

Young said that reports surfacing on the Internet and elsewhere that Dunn has spoken with investigators is “patently false and inaccurate.”

Hailey, 13, was last seen on December 27, 2010. According to police, her mother’s live-in boyfriend, Shawn Adkins claimed the girl told him she was walking a short distance to her father’s home and then over to a friend’s to spend the night. She never arrived at either location. Her mother reported her missing on December 28.

Adkins has been named the only suspect in the case by police and reports at the time indicated Dunn asked him to move out of the home just days after Hailey vanished. Adkins claims he had nothing to do with Hailey's disappearance.

Investigators have said Adkins quit his job the same day Hailey vanished, repots KTXS.

Young told KTXS he does not know what is happening with Adkins, saying Dunn has not had any contact with him in several months.

In early 2011, ReporterNews.com reported a Dell computer was taken from the home of Adkin’s mother in Big Spring. It contained “approximately 108,498 pictures depicting deviant acts.” A memory stick containing “320 images and videos of a pornographic nature,” was found in the master bedroom of the Dunn residence in Colorado City during the investigation. Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs said both the computer and memory stick had images depicting bestiality and child pornography. He noted charges could be filed regarding the find. “We will have to get with the district attorney in Howard County to see if criminal charges are warranted,” Toombs said at the time.
